About the architect:

Born in 1936, Pascal Häusermann graduated as an architect at the University of Geneva's School of Architecture. During his studies, he became a civil engineer at the "Little Titchfield Street Polytechnic" in London. He built three futuristic houses before the end of his studies.

Soon recognized as visionary and, at the same time constructor and developer, he became part of the G.I.A.P. (International Group of Prospective Architects), the French Order of Architects and the Swiss Federation of Architects. He was honored in 1969 and in 1970 by receiving, both years, the Grand Prize of Architecture and City Planning in Cannes (France). He, also, was laureate to the "Programme Architecture Nouvelle" (New Architecture Program) by the French government in 1972. He created, in 1971, "Habitat Evolutif" (Evolutionary Habitat), a group of architects and city planners, dedicated to the study and experiment other ways of organizing towns rather than by imposing the construction of collective blocks of flats to their inhabitants. He was asked to teach at UP 7 (French Public Architecture School) in 1971, in Paris. He was, also, mandated to supervise student's theses in Grenoble and Clermont Ferrand in France. He participated in numerous symposia and conferences on housing industrialization in Europe. From 1975, he too to developing by renovating Le Corbusier's "Clarté" (a block of around 6o flats) and then, went on renovating and developing a whole area of Geneva's center town called "La Terrassière". The 1990's crisis put and end to political free real estate in Europe and he decided to retire in India with his Indian wife.

Today, Pascal Häusermann's work is being recognized as being predominant in the twentieth century's architecture. Most of the buildings he built are inscribed as France's artistic patrimony and are, thus, protected. A number of films were taken of his work since the 1970's, the last of which appeared on the screens in 2004, called "La Bulle et l'Architecte" (The Bubble and the Architect), by Julien Donada. The "FRAC Centre", now, keeps his archives; a branch of the French Fine Arts Ministry dedicated to its Contemporary realm, and organizes exhibitions all over the world. He was, thus, exposed in Beijing, New York, Tokyo and many other international cities. Having become a kind of museum piece doesn't prevent the architect to spend his time building. He turned a second floor on his wife's family house into an exotic penthouse and plans to go on building for his own pleasure. He, also, feels that India has become the most promising country for any futuristic development. Pascal’s masterpieces includ e theatres, revolving restaurants schools and hospitals widely found in Paris and Geneva. With us, he has given us his time to design Play Schools, Planetariums, and Secondary Schools.
